    Hello Community,


    HW: HP spectre X360 G1 with Windows 10 1703 build 15063.850.

    With usual Windows update it doesn't find any new updates, tells that system is actual.

    So i downloaded WindowsUpdateAssistent from MS site, starts, tells the prereq's are sufficient, and downloads, then installs.
    But at 71% ist fails with error 0x80070522. Found documentation to this code telling something with administration access is missing, but what more can i do than log in as adiministrator and, of course all was executed "as administrator" from contect menu.

    I finally downloaded Media Creation tool, but this cannot start, tells there is a problem, should try reboot, this doesn't help, same error.


    I am working with local administrator account (same issues with domain account as member of administrators group).

    UAC is at lowest level. Issues do appear with deactivated MS Firewall and disabled Avira AV.

    C: Partition has ~78 Gb free ssd space.

    I executed "TroubleShooting WindowsUpdate" from Control Panel, repairs it and resolved everything but not "some security settings not found or changed", that is the only issue marked with a red cross, which is not resolved. All other found topics are resolved.


    Did clean up C:\ with cleanmgr.exe, did mark all available values, but this is either not helping.


    Did change folder names of c:\windows.old, C:\$windows.~WS, C:\$windows.~BT and moved them to other directory (i.e. c:\temp).

    It is not possible to remove these folders competely, bcoz the ownership or access of TrustedInstaller (C:\$windows.~BT) or SYSTEM (c:\windows.old) cannot be given to administrator (even not working with cacls, icacls and all tipps given in forums, always "access denied".

    So i am now at the point where all research in forums where these sort of issues were discussed beginning about 2015, are not helping here or i cannot find anything to resolve it.


    Does anyone have "new" ideas or tipps what can help to get "fall creator update" installed?


    I really need experts support here:

    a) what can i do to get MCT to start?

    b) or what can i do to get WindowsUpdateAssistent install update 1709 to 100%

    c) or is there anyone out there knowing what exitcode 0x240001 in the log means?


    btw, event log does not show anything either.
