Change appearance of desktop files and folders

Hi community,

I recently resented my PC and now the desktop icons appear more narrow then before.

The problem is not the size. I attached the appearance of how it is at the moment (narrow) and how it was used to be (desired).

Please let me know how this can be changed as I did not find any answers online.

Are you facing this issue with the Windows 10 PC?

I suggest you to try the following methods to personalize your desktop to the desired requirements:

Method 1:

Check the Icon spacing
to rearrange the Desktop icons.

Method 2:

Check the Resize Desktop icon
option to change the size of Desktop icons.

Method 3:

Check the Change screen resolution
to desired settings.

Thank you for the reply Suman_B.

The term I was looking for was "Icon spacing". I could not find the solution by the link provided as Windows 10 did not show me the options that the link suggested. I resolved my problem the following:

1. Enter the registry Windows+R and type regedit

2. Follow the path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics

3. Find IconSpacing and set it to -1710

4. You might also change IconVerticalSpacing if desired(in my case
-1125)

5. Reboot Windows to apply the changes

According to some tutorials, the IconSpacing and the
IconVerticalSpacing can be any value between -480 (minimum spacing) and -2730.

Hope this helps others in need!

Method three - Uninstall Acer Quick Access manually by deleting hidden file and editing registry

As registry keys and hidden files will be generated along with the program installation, so, after you finished the above steps, you still need to remove all the hidden file and related registry keys of the program to ensure a 100% complete removal. You can follow the below steps to fully uninstall it:

Part1: Delete leftover files/folders

Double click to open My Computer.
Click on Tool menu > Folder options.
Click on View tab.
Select the Show hidden files and folders option in the Advanced settings section
Click OK button to finish the setting.
Note: You can also reach the Folder Options by going to Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Folder Options, by doing the above steps, all the hidden files/folders will become visible for you to have a better view to delete the leftovers.
Click Start menu, and click Search.
Click "All files and folders" option in the left side section.
Type in Acer Quick Access in the first blank, or you can type in the name of the application without version number.
Select a more specific area (drive, drives or folder) in the "Look in box" if needed.
Click Search button to start searching all the related files and folders of the target program.
After the search finish, right click to delete all the found files/folders on the right hand section.
Close the search window and back to your desktop.
Right click on the Windows Recycle bin and select empty the recycle bin.
Part2: Delete associated registry leftovers

Click Start --> run
Type in "regedit", and then click ENTER to open Windows Registry Editor.
Find out the below registry keys in the editor.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Acer Quick Access)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\program name)

(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Run\eg ui)

Delete those registry keys by right clicking on them and select "delete".
Go to Start > Control penal > Folder > Select Show Hidden Files and Folders
Locate and delete the following folders manually if found:
(C:\Program Files\Acer Quick Access)

(C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data\program name)

(C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%\Application Data\program name)

Close registry editor and restart Your computer.
