windows explorer crash when opening a file

My windows explorer stops working repetitively after last windows update. When I open the explorer and browse some folders it starts opening lots of new windows. Moreover if I open a file like an excel sheet or a txt file it crashes and restarts.


Recent windows updates:

- Security update for adobe flash player

- Security update for Microsoft windows (KB4054517)

- Update for Microsoft windows (KB4087256)


I guess it has something to do with the last windows update but i am not sure. Other Changes I have done recently: avast update, origin update, chrome update, Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus update and I have bought a new display (new driver?).



I have already tried:

- several system health checks (no findings)

* DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
* DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
* SFC /SCANNOW

- undo windows update not possible

- starting in safe mode it is even worse. I can not even start explorer without crash.

- system recovery not working (some stupid error with spotify.exe ...)

- i thought it could be related to explorer extension qttabbar and uninstalled it but it is still the same (I had qttabbar installed for nearly a year without problems)

- i disabled all third party shell extensions (no change)



I guess now my last option is a complete reinstall or is there anything else I can try? Thanks for any help.
